Stock Futures Waver as Investors Sneer at Netflix, 3M, UPS

Investors continued to wait for a resolution to the debt debates in Europe, as companies reported another mixed bag of earnings on Tuesday. Netflix and 3M shares dropped dramatically in pre-market trading after reporting earnings. But the major indexes were basically trading flat before the market opened.

Dow futures dropped 17 points to 11,808, and the S&P 500 was essentially unchanged.

Netflix (NFLX) fell 35% in pre-market trading after saying on Monday evening that it lost 800,000 subscribers in the most recent quarter. 3M (MMM) dropped 6.1% on earnings, and UPS (UPS) was off 1.3% after reporting its results. Zions Bancorp (ZION) also fell 3.3% after reporting earnings on Wednesday. National Oilwell Varco (NOV) rose 3.8% after beating earnings expectatons.
